CLARISSE HERE- an introduction

I am not very good with introductions. Introducing myself to people has always been an awkward moment for me. I cannot escape it, though. In every step I take to expand my network and know myself better, introductions are simply inevitable.

Why do I feel awkward whenever I have to introduce myself? I’ve listed my reasons below.

1. I hate saying clichés and I consider saying, “I am Clarisse M. Caysip, 21 years old from Bulacan”, a cliché.

2. I don’t want to be discriminated (especially during job interviews) just because I’ve mentioned on my introduction that I didn’t finish college so my line has always been, “I completed two years of college at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines where I took up Journalism”. It is my work around— I’ve avoided lying through this though some find it a bit misleading.

3. I don’t have a stable career to brag about. Hey, writing is my passion so what the hell am I doing in the Call Center Business?! Reality bites. I need to work to earn and live. I didn’t finish college but I still want to live within society standards so I opted to be a Call Center Agent. I’ve been in this kind of job for two years now. I am contented with it as I have no other choice but given an opportunity, I’d rather pursue my passion.

4. I don’t know how to effectively end an introduction. I’ve formulated lots of work arounds but they’re only applicable on case to case basis. As for a job interview, I always end my introduction with, “As an employee, I am self motivated. I believe I can do almost anything if I put my heart into it”. So employers, better strike me with your best foot forward!

These are my reasons. I don’t know if you will consider them valid but I guess your opinion in this matter is one of those things I simplycannot manipulate. Anyway, I just found a creative way to introduce myself to blog readers. You’ve just read it! :)
