My Journey as an Online Freelance Writer

Take me seriously for I am taking my job seriously. I may not look or sound like a professional writer yet but I assure you— I am!

Writing is my passion. It is the reason I took up Journalism in college. Unfortunately though, I am unable to pursue a career in this field because I was forced to work on my own at a very early age. Don’t get me wrong. I have no regrets. I just sometimes wish life could have been a little easier for me so I am able to follow what my heart wants me to follow.

After two years of serving the ever-generous Call Center Industry, I finally decided to shift careers. This is not a very easy thing to do as there are limited jobs available for writers here in the Philippines. Apart from students who need assistance on their technical writing projects, I no longer have any other contacts to consider my personal market. I knew I need to find clients who would trust a young and new yet passionate and professional writer like me. So I started my quest towards finding a better market for my craft.

I am currently working on a book proposal. Hopefully, I’d be able to present this to publishers in the coming weeks. I already submitted it to a publisher in our locality but a part of me knew that my sole writing experience back in college might not be enough to convince them. I knew I have to do some hard work to prove my worth as a writer.

Online Freelance Writing gave me this opportunity. Yes, I am new on this field. However, I consider myself a certified online freelance writer as I have been accepting freelance writing jobs for quite a while now. I may not be able to claim intellectual property rights over dozens of researches I’ve done for students, but I know that if given a chance by a client, I’d be able to meet his expectations and even exceed them. Writing is not about experience anyway. Like any other jobs, it is about people skills.

You’re now looking at my first step to realizing a dream— to build a reputation as a value provider in the Online Freelance Writing World. If you are the client I’ve been waiting for, I’d be very thankful to you. If you are a fellow new online freelance writer, don’t lose hope as you are not alone. Everyone starts from scratch and it’s up to us how to create a masterpiece out of it.
