This is my first day to browse through job postings on Go Pinoy (www.gopinoy.com) and I’d say I’m quite impressed.
I am a new freelance writer trying to make a living from home because I am on vacation from work. I’ve already tried browsing through other ‘for-job-seekers’ websites but I really can’t find much luck. Most job postings are call center job opportunities or opportunities on other industries which would only have available positions for college degree holders.
This pulled my hopes down for some time. However, as a job seeker willing to do anything to start a career in a field I am very passionate about, I decided to continue my quest to find that single project that will allow me to showcase my talent as a writer and which will eventually lead me to find a wider market for my works.
I started attempting to expand my network in order to find clients— I’ve joined facebook and tagged! Afterwards, I created my own website (www.onlinefreelancewriter.webs.com) so I’d have a personal page on the web where I can direct my clients to. I’ve also taken advantage of search engines in order to find websites which would have writing opportunities in them. Disappointingly though, all these efforts were for long-term use and would only have results in a couple of months. As a person I am very patient but because I got used to working in the fast-paced environment of call centers, I already find it difficult to not do anything for a long period of time.
At last, my long wait has finally come to an end. I found a website which would have all sorts of job opportunities! It won’t be an exaggeration to say that it is a website for everyone— degree holders and non-degree holders alike. In fact, even a new computer user can use this website. The sign up process is very easy and the website itself is also very easy to navigate.
They don’t have a link for writing opportunities but the instant I clicked the link for other job opportunities, my screen was flooded with interesting job postings! I started reading each and was delighted to find out that I qualify for them.
This is my Go Pinoy story. I am not paid for this but the hope it has given me is enough for me to set aside some precious minutes to write this post and commend them for a job well done. :)
